Chicago Guide: Andros Taverna

Chicago Guide: Andros Taverna

Andros Taverna

Address | 2542 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647

I love Mediterranean cuisine and was really looking forward to our meal at contemporary Greek restaurant, Andros Taverna. Spearheaded by Executive Chef Doug Psaltis the setting and the menu did not disappoint. Located in the heart of Logan Square, Andros Taverna boasts a lively scene in an open and spacious room where fresh tomatoes on the vine line the bar shelves and patrons consist of a mix of couples at intimate two tops and larger parties reveling at big communal type tables. The menu offers a mix of Greek mezze and spreads, grilled meats, and octopus and of course puffy pillows of pita. The Sparta Octopus was the star of this meal for me but I really enjoyed every dish that made it’s way to our table. In addition to incredible foods they have a great cocktail and wine menu. The food, the service, and the ambience at Andros Taverna were incredible and I’m looking forward to going back.

Andros Taverna: A Must-Visit Spot for Food, Drink & Fun in Chicago

If you're planning a trip to Chicago and want to experience a dining destination that delivers exceptional food, top-notch drinks, and an atmosphere buzzing with energy, Andros Taverna needs to be on your list. Located in the vibrant Logan Square neighborhood, this modern Greek restaurant brings a fresh, sophisticated twist to Mediterranean cuisine, all while staying rooted in the warmth and generosity that defines Greek hospitality.

From the moment you walk in, Andros Taverna impresses. The space is bright, open, and welcoming—with high ceilings, natural light, and a relaxed yet polished interior that balances urban cool with timeless Mediterranean charm. Whether you're grabbing brunch with friends, enjoying a romantic dinner, or just stopping by for cocktails, the setting feels just right.

A Menu That Celebrates Greek Flavors with a Modern Twist

At the heart of Andros Taverna is its food—thoughtfully prepared, ingredient-driven, and full of bold, clean flavors. Helmed by Chef Doug Psaltis, the menu pays homage to traditional Greek recipes while updating them with seasonal ingredients and contemporary techniques.

Start with the Andros Chips, their take on zucchini and eggplant crisps, served with tzatziki so good it could be a main course on its own. Then there’s the house-made pita—soft, warm, and served with dips like whipped feta, taramasalata, and spicy tirokafteri that bring a punch of flavor in every bite.

The grilled meats and seafood are standout stars—octopus, lamb chops, and swordfish skewers arrive charred to perfection from the wood-fired grill, seasoned simply to let the quality of the ingredients shine. Vegetarians aren't left out either, with dishes like the roasted beet salad with hazelnuts and yogurt or the spanakopita that rivals any you'd find in Athens.

And for brunch lovers? Andros Taverna offers a Greek-inspired morning menu that’s anything but ordinary—think loukoumades (Greek donuts), baklava pancakes, and egg dishes that blend Mediterranean flair with comforting familiarity.

Cocktails, Wine & More: Raise a Glass to Greece

No great dining experience is complete without a stellar drink menu, and Andros Taverna delivers on that front too. The bar program is thoughtful and creative, offering both classic cocktails and inventive house specialties with a Greek twist.

You’ll find drinks featuring mastihaouzo, and other traditional Greek spirits—each blended with modern craft cocktail techniques. The wine list is another highlight, showcasing a well-curated selection of Greek and Mediterranean wines alongside some familiar favorites. Whether you’re a wine novice or a connoisseur, the knowledgeable staff is happy to guide you toward the perfect pairing.

Prefer something low-key? Their Greek iced coffee and herbal teas also shine, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely afternoon sip.

More Than a Meal: A Whole Vibe

Beyond the food and drinks, what truly sets Andros Taverna apart is the atmosphere. It strikes a rare balance—lively yet laid-back, upscale but not stuffy. The service is warm and attentive, reflecting the Greek spirit of hospitality that makes you feel like a welcomed guest rather than just a customer.

There’s often a fun energy in the room, especially during weekend brunches or dinner service when the space fills with locals and visitors alike. Whether you’re dining indoors or on the seasonal outdoor patio, it’s easy to lose track of time over great conversation and even better food.

Why It’s a Must-Visit in Chicago
