Chicago: Andros Taverna

Andros Taverna

Address | 2542 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647

For our last evening together in Chicago, we wanted to end our trip with a meal we knew everyone would enjoy—and since we all love Mediterranean food, Andros Taverna was an easy choice. Located in the Logan Square neighborhood, the restaurant has a lively, welcoming atmosphere that felt perfect for a night out together. From the inviting space to the energy of the neighborhood, it was a great way to spend our final evening in the city.

One of the highlights was our server, who was incredibly helpful when it came to navigating the menu and modifying dishes to accommodate our vegan diners. Rather than feeling limited by the menu, we were able to make thoughtful adjustments and enjoy a variety of Mediterranean-inspired dishes together. With great food, excellent service, and the right atmosphere for our final night, Andros Taverna turned out to be a memorable—and delicious—way to say goodbye to Chicago.

Here’s what we ordered:

Tomatoes on the Vine

As with every meal at Andros Taverna, we began with tomatoes on the vine, accompanied by little dipping dishes of olive oil, salt, and dried Greek seasoning. It’s such a simple presentation, but one that immediately sets the Mediterranean tone for the meal. The fresh, juicy tomatoes with the fragrant olive oil and Greek seasoning made for a delicious start and a lovely reminder that sometimes the simplest ingredients are the best.

Watermelon Salad

The Watermelon Salad was an absolute standout. Two large rounds of compressed watermelon were beautifully seasoned and served with sweet red peppers, black cured olives, and creamy avocado. The combination of juicy watermelon, salty olives, sweet peppers, and rich avocado was incredibly refreshing and flavorful—a perfect Mediterranean-inspired dish for a summer evening in Chicago.

Olive Oil Martini

For a drink, we went with the Olive Oil Martini, made with Stray Dog Gin, Iliada olive oil, and rosemary. It was such an interesting Mediterranean-inspired take on a classic martini, with the olive oil and rosemary adding a savory, aromatic character that paired especially well with our meal.

Vegan Eggplant Moussaka

We also ordered the Eggplant Moussaka, which our server was able to modify beautifully to make it completely vegan, without dairy or cheese. Presented with the traditional layered preparation, this version layered eggplant, tomato, and potatoes, wonderfully seasoned and beautifully presented. It was comforting, flavorful, and a great example of how the kitchen could adapt the menu while still delivering a dish that felt special.

Greek Fries

Of course, we had to add an order of Greek Fries to the table to share. They were the perfect addition to our meal—crispy, savory, and ideal for passing around the table while we enjoyed our final evening in Chicago together.

A Delicious Final Evening in Chicago

Our dinner at Andros Taverna was the perfect way to wrap up our time in Chicago. From the lively Logan Square setting and warm atmosphere to the thoughtful service and delicious Mediterranean flavors, the evening felt relaxed, celebratory, and very much like a night out together. We especially appreciated how accommodating the restaurant was with vegan modifications, allowing everyone at our table to enjoy the meal without compromise.

The watermelon salad, vegan eggplant moussaka, Greek fries, and Olive Oil Martini gave us plenty to talk about and share, and starting with those simple tomatoes, olive oil, salt, and Greek seasoning set the tone for everything that followed. Andros Taverna was more than just our last dinner in Chicago—it was a memorable final meal with great food, great company, and exactly the kind of atmosphere we were looking for to end our trip.
