We're just over the midweek hump and the weekend is around the corner. What better way to help get us through the next couple of days than with a little post about chocolate.  In addition to being a delicious treat chocolate, especially dark chocolate which is my personal favorite, has a variety of health benefits like mood enhancement and heart health when consumed in moderation.  So, before settling in to read this this post, grab a square or two of your favorite chocolate bar and lets go.

Taking it back to Toronto today because I wanted to share with you all a little treasure that was recommended to us, Soma Chocolatemaker.  We were on our way to Cluny Cafe and after putting our names down for a 45 minute wait, we decided to head down the lane to Soma in search of a sweet treat and lovely gifts for family in NYC.  Soma is housed in a former whisky aging tank house and full of character.  It offers more than just a unique selection of truffles.  Additionally, you can order cacao based and coffee drinks to enjoy with pastry, or a smooth scoop of gelato.

Our first stop was to the truffle case where with the help of an incredibly friendly and informative employee, we pieced together one of a kind boxes of chocolates.  The chocolate is bean to bar so it's fresh and delicious. The flavors vary from traditional to more unique.  They included the Maya Dome (infused with chile, cinnamon, ginger etc.), balsamic vinegar (not my favorite but unique and worth trying), whisky (one of my favorites), and my #1 favorite the Douglas Fir which is chocolate infused with Douglas fir oils.  You can check out a more full list of the chocolates they offer.

In addition to tasting great, the chocolates have a lovely look to them so they make elegant gifts.  You can choose something from the cases or the shelves.

While we waited for chocolates to be beautifully wrapped, we decided to sample some gelato.  We tried the passion fruit and the pistachio.  They were both smooth and full of flavor. Very good!
