Harbs Japanese cake boutique is our favorite place for cakes. Whether we purchase whole cakes for parties ringing in the New Year and birthdays, or wander in to indulge in a rich piece of cake, Herbs never disappoints. Following our sushi meal at Shiki Omakase in Soho we decided to round the corner for dessert at Herbs. We ordered their seasonal slice, Sakura—Sakura mousse with Dainagon red beans, and the King Chocolate—chocolate cake with cream puffs and raspberries. The sakura was deliciously fluffy and light, the sweet sakura and lightly salted flavors combined with the contrasting textures of red bean and jelly topping.

The King cake was very rich and chocolatey, topped with sweet cream puffs it felt very indulgent. Our black americanos helped cut through the sweetness but both slices were divine.

Most of Harbs cakes feature light heavenly layers of whipped cream and include traditional Japanese flavors like matcha, royal milk tea, and red bean as well as a variety of fruit and chocolate cakes. With locations in Soho and Chelsea, be sure to stop into Harbs for an unforgettable treat.
