Vegan Cinnamon Rolls
Wake up to the smell of fresh cinnamon rolls baking in the oven—warm, sweet, and just a little nostalgic. This vegan version captures all of that magic while staying completely plant-based, proving you don’t need animal cruelty and dairy to achieve soft, pillowy dough and rich, gooey swirls of cinnamon sugar.
Whether you’re making these for a slow weekend morning, a holiday brunch, or simply to treat yourself, this recipe is designed to feel both approachable and indulgent. The dough comes together with simple pantry staples, creating a tender texture that rises beautifully and bakes to golden perfection. Inside, a generous layer of cinnamon and brown sugar melts into every spiral, delivering that classic, comforting flavor in every bite.
What truly takes these rolls over the top is the vanilla glaze—smooth, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced to complement the warmth of the cinnamon without overpowering it. It seeps into the rolls just enough, creating that irresistible melt-in-your-mouth finish.
As someone who loves creating recipes that feel both elevated and accessible, this one is a staple I come back to again and again. It’s a reminder that plant-based baking can be just as satisfying, nostalgic, and delicious as traditional favorites—if not more so.
Vegan Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients
Dough
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
1 cup warm plant-based milk (almond, oat, or soy)
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup vegan butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon salt
Filling
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1/4 cup vegan butter, softened
Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 tablespoons plant-based milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Activate the Yeast
In a bowl, combine warm plant milk (not too hot—about 110°F) with sugar and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Make the Dough
Add melted vegan butter and salt. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
3. First Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
4. Roll & Fill
Roll the dough into a large rectangle (about 10x15 inches). Spread softened vegan butter evenly, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
5. Shape the Rolls
Roll tightly from the long edge into a log. Slice into 9–12 rolls and place in a greased baking dish.
6. Second Rise
Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
7. Bake
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 22–26 minutes, until golden and cooked through.
8. Glaze & Serve
Whisk together glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm rolls. Serve immediately.
Tips for Perfect Rolls
For extra gooey centers, pour a splash of plant milk over the rolls before baking.
Add chopped pecans or raisins for texture.
Make ahead: refrigerate overnight after shaping, then bring to room temp before baking.
Warm, sweet, and irresistibly soft—these vegan cinnamon rolls are everything you want in a classic, just made plant-based 💛
