An Easy Vegan Thanksgiving Menu for Entertaining

An Easy Vegan Thanksgiving Menu for Entertaining

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite occasions for gathering friends and family around the table, sharing good food, and enjoying a relaxed afternoon that stretches into the evening. And while a traditional Thanksgiving menu often centers on turkey, I love the idea of creating a plant-based feast that feels just as festive, satisfying, and beautiful.

The secret to an easy vegan Thanksgiving is choosing recipes that complement one another and preparing as much as possible ahead of time. From savory mushroom appetizers and a golden puff pastry roast to classic holiday sides, seasonal cocktails, and autumn-inspired desserts, there are so many delicious ways to create a memorable Thanksgiving menu without spending the entire day in the kitchen.

I've gathered some of my favorite recipes from our Vegan Thanksgiving Recipes collection to help you plan a beautiful plant-based holiday meal. Whether you're hosting an entirely vegan Thanksgiving or simply want to offer more plant-based dishes alongside traditional favorites, this menu has something for everyone.

Start with Easy Vegan Thanksgiving Appetizers

Guests tend to gather in the kitchen while dinner is cooking, so I like to have a few simple appetizers ready to serve with drinks. The trick is choosing dishes that can be prepared ahead of time, leaving you free to enjoy your own gathering.

Stuffed Mushrooms with Cashew Cheese and Herbs

These elegant stuffed mushrooms are a lovely way to begin a holiday meal. Tender mushroom caps filled with creamy cashew cheese, garlic, lemon, and fresh herbs deliver plenty of savory flavor in a few bites. They feel special enough for entertaining but are easy to prepare before guests arrive.

French Onion Dip

For something more casual, creamy vegan French onion dip is always welcome on an appetizer table. Sweet caramelized onions add rich, savory flavor to a smooth cashew-based dip. Serve it with crisp vegetables, crackers, toasted baguette slices, or potato chips for an easy starter everyone can enjoy.

Citrus Marinated Olives

Citrus marinated olives are one of the simplest additions to a holiday spread. Infused with rosemary, garlic, lemon peel, and a touch of red pepper, they bring a bright Mediterranean flavor to the table. Arrange them in a small serving bowl alongside the other appetizers for an effortless finishing touch.

Serve a Seasonal Thanksgiving Cocktail

A festive cocktail makes welcoming guests feel a little more special, and autumn is the perfect time to bring smoky mezcal and warming seasonal flavors to the table.

Fall Mezcal Margarita

Our Fall Mezcal Margarita is a seasonal twist on a classic margarita, combining the smoky character of mezcal with bright citrus and autumn-inspired flavors. It's a lovely cocktail to serve before Thanksgiving dinner, whether you're hosting an intimate gathering or a larger holiday celebration.

Serve it in glasses with a cinnamon-sugar rim for an extra festive touch, and garnish with an apple slice or a cinnamon stick. The balance of smoky, tart, and warming flavors makes this cocktail a wonderful pairing for savory mushroom appetizers and the rich, comforting dishes on your Thanksgiving table.

For easier entertaining, prepare the cocktail mixture ahead of time and refrigerate it until your guests arrive. Shake individual servings with ice just before pouring for the freshest flavor and a perfectly chilled drink.

For a nonalcoholic alternative, offer sparkling apple cider with fresh apple slices and a cinnamon stick.

Choose a Beautiful Plant-Based Thanksgiving Main

Every Thanksgiving table deserves a centerpiece, and a vegan main course can be just as impressive as a traditional roast.

Vegan Wild Mushroom Puff Pastry Roast

Our Vegan Wild Mushroom Puff Pastry Roast is a wonderful choice for a holiday gathering. A savory filling of maitake, brown beech, and bunapi mushrooms is combined with garlic, shallots, fresh herbs, and white miso before being wrapped in flaky vegan puff pastry.

The golden pastry looks beautiful when brought to the table, and slicing into it reveals a rich mushroom filling packed with savory flavor. It's an excellent centerpiece for a fully plant-based Thanksgiving and pairs beautifully with mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and roasted vegetables.

If you're planning a smaller gathering, you could also serve roasted cauliflower with lemon tahini sauce and crispy chickpeas as a hearty main course.

Add the Classic Thanksgiving Sides

For me, the side dishes are an essential part of Thanksgiving. A combination of creamy potatoes, savory stuffing, seasonal vegetables, and tangy cranberry sauce creates a table with plenty of variety in flavor and texture.

Harvest Herb Vegan Stuffing

No Thanksgiving menu feels quite complete without stuffing. Our Harvest Herb Vegan Stuffing combines rustic bread with sautéed onions, celery, garlic, and fresh herbs such as sage, thyme, and rosemary.

It's a comforting holiday classic made entirely without dairy or eggs. Prepare the ingredients ahead of time, then bake the stuffing until the top is golden and crisp.

Savory Sage Vegan Gravy

A good gravy brings the whole plate together. Our Savory Sage Vegan Gravy is rich, aromatic, and full of classic Thanksgiving flavor, with sautéed onions, garlic, fresh sage, and vegetable broth.

Pour it over the mushroom roast, stuffing, or potatoes for a comforting finishing touch.

Whipped Potatoes

Creamy whipped potatoes are another holiday essential. Made with plant-based milk, olive oil or vegan butter, and roasted garlic, they deliver the smooth, comforting texture everyone expects from this classic side.

Serve them with a generous spoonful of vegan gravy and a sprinkle of fresh herbs.

Ginger and Orange Zest Cranberry Sauce

Our Ginger and Orange Zest Cranberry Sauce gives traditional cranberry sauce a fresh, citrusy twist. Tart cranberries, orange zest, and ginger create a bright, flavorful condiment that balances the richness of the other dishes.

This is one of the best recipes to prepare ahead of time. Make it a day or two before Thanksgiving and refrigerate it until you're ready to serve.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

For a simple vegetable side, roasted Brussels sprouts are hard to beat. Roasting brings out their natural sweetness while creating beautifully caramelized edges. Finish them with balsamic glaze, toasted nuts, or a little fresh thyme to complement the other dishes on the table.

Finish with an Autumn-Inspired Vegan Dessert

After a satisfying Thanksgiving meal, I like to serve something that celebrates the flavors of the season without making the afternoon feel overly complicated.

Vegan Pumpkin Mousse

Our vegan pumpkin mousse is a lovely make-ahead dessert. Pumpkin purée, warming spices, and a creamy plant-based whipped base create a light, airy dessert with all the familiar flavors of autumn.

Serve it in individual glasses and finish with a little cinnamon, toasted pecans, or coconut whipped cream for an elegant presentation.

Vegan Apple Crumble Cheesecake

If you prefer something a little more indulgent, our Vegan Apple Crumble Cheesecake combines creamy cheesecake with cinnamon-spiced apples and a crumble topping. It's a wonderful dessert for sharing and a delicious way to finish a holiday meal.

How to Prepare an Easy Vegan Thanksgiving Menu

The easiest way to enjoy Thanksgiving is to spread the work over a few days rather than attempting everything on the holiday itself.

Two days before Thanksgiving

  • Make the ginger and orange cranberry sauce.

  • Prepare the French onion dip.

  • Shop for fresh produce and check that you have all the ingredients for your main course.

The day before Thanksgiving

  • Prepare the pumpkin mousse and refrigerate it.

  • Make the stuffing mixture and refrigerate it until ready to bake.

  • Prepare the mushroom filling for the puff pastry roast.

  • Wash and trim the vegetables, and measure out the ingredients for the remaining sides.

On Thanksgiving Day

  • Assemble and bake the mushroom puff pastry roast.

  • Bake the stuffing and roast the Brussels sprouts.

  • Prepare the whipped potatoes and warm the gravy.

  • Set out the appetizers and prepare the apple cider cocktail base.

  • Assemble the dessert glasses and add the final garnishes.

The goal is to keep the last hour as manageable as possible, with most of the chopping, mixing, and preparation already finished.

A Thanksgiving Feast Everyone Can Enjoy

A delicious Thanksgiving meal doesn't have to revolve around meat or dairy. With a little planning and a thoughtful selection of seasonal dishes, it's easy to create a plant-based holiday table filled with comforting classics, beautiful presentation, and plenty of flavor.

From the first appetizers and sparkling apple cider cocktails to a golden mushroom roast, savory sides, and pumpkin mousse, this menu offers everything you need for an inviting vegan Thanksgiving.

You don't have to make every dish, either. Choose a main course, two or three favorite sides, an appetizer, and a dessert to create a manageable menu that suits your gathering.
